The service in the restaurants was substandard (except for our main dining room server & assistant they were great). The food in the main dining area was just okay. The customer service staff was argumentative, rude, dismissive, and generally unhelpful until a manager was called. When dealing with managers, it was a pleasure. Towel attendants never checked back in the towels under my card (that I handed to them), so I was charged for towels I never kept and it was a nightmare getting customer service to reverse it (until the manager got involved). They gave me a blank credit card receipt to sign and when I asked why there was no price printed on it the customer service agent hand wrote my total. When I asked about that she said that this was not a retail store where prices are shown on the receipts and every company does things differently, and Royal Caribbean never prints the amount on the credit card authorization receipt. I am paraphrasing and the tone was not as nice as what is written here! I had many issues and am still waiting for the refund I was promised for the character breakfast that was a debacle! To clarify, they charged my room then gave a credit for that charge on the same day when I had PREPAID the character breakfast 3 months prior on my credit card!! The characters were nice my breakfast was awful (I had burnt bacon bits as opposed to actual bacon). Room Service now charges $7.95 for delivery of any sort - that includes apple and crackers for nausea! Most of the entertainment was good except for 1 headliner that was particularly bad. He was an 50+ year old Australian Vegas performer who should have stuck to being a lounge singer. He actually moon-walked and did a James Brown shuffle during one of his songs! Cozumel and Roatan were great but Belize was definitely not. As this was the last cruise that Royal Caribbean will send to Belize, I will not go into detail because it will no longer effect any of their cruises.
I am now a wavering fan of Royal Caribbean now (all 5 of my cruises have been with them) and I will try a different ship.
This cabin was the best part of the trip! It is oh so spacious. They do need to upgrade the furniture because when you open drawers there is peeling paint and vinyl. Also the bathroom has rust and chips throughout. Also, the TV was old and would not come in clear. Other than that it was very nice to be able to separate the bedroom from the living room with the curtain and also have a curtain for the children's sleeping area.
Galveston resembles an old shipping town and is NOT easy on the eyes. The best parts are the Pyramids.
Dirty, muggy, hot, crime ridden, harassing locals selling any and everything, nothing close to port.
We stayed around the port and still had a fabulous time! The shops were clean and the sales people were not annoying. They knew how to take no for an answer! You can haggle the prices down and get some great deals on almost anything and best of all, Senor Frogs was so much fun!
