I chose RCI based on recommendations from friends and family. The boat is enormous and there is something for everyone to enjoy. We had an ocean-view room with a balcony on Deck 8. It was cramped for 4 people but adequate. Our stateroom attendant was very helpful and kept the room clean and tidy. The food was very good and the dining staff did an excellent job. I was advised by a staff member that the ship was at approximately 80 occupancy during our cruise. As such, the crowds were not too bad and the crew did a good job of keeping things organized in the dining room and on board entertainment areas. My biggest dissatisfaction is not based on the ship itself or the service provided by the crew. However, I felt that the boat was more of a floating shopping mall than a relaxing vacation. I vacation regularly at both all-inclusive style resorts such as Sandals (Bahamas) and Beaches (Turks & Caicos), as well as "a la carte" locations such as the Hyatt Regency in Aruba and have never felt "nickel and dimed" like I did on this cruise. I also felt rushed at the ports and, as such, was unable to truly appreciate what each location had to offer. Also, waiting on lines to go through security to board the ships at each port was a nuisance. I realize and truly appreciate that this is for the protection of all passengers but was just not something I would choose going forward. Perhaps I am just not a cruise person.
The room was adequate. We were traveling with our 2 children so it was cramped but worked fine. Our stateroom attendant was excellent. Always kept the room clean and tidy and converted the sofa bed each night while we were out to dinner, etc.
