We will have long lasting memories of this cruise, the transit through the canal, the ports of call and the high standard of service from all the staff. What is memorable but for different reasons is the state of the ship. It was clean but tired, jaded and overdue a refit.
Our Aqua Class cabin (9045) had furniture and fittings well past their best, the air conditioning was so noisy at times, it woke us up. Bedlinen was a poor quality and the pillows very uncomfortable. The bathroom was certainly not luxurious. There was a black ring round the toilet and mould in the shower and in the shower door seals which were so old, they were cracked and had bits missing so the bathroom flooded after a shower.
Throughout the ship there were other signs of being due some maintenance. Deck railings were rusty, with rust flaking off. During the cruise, condensation on the ceiling of the Oceanview Cafe led to liquid dropping from the ceiling onto gusets and their food - very hygenic. Increasingly, air conditioning in some areas was turned down or off.
Worn out fittings and furniture. Bathroom not luxurious, Mould in shower
Only had one night - wish we had booked extra pre cruise days
Cabo San Lucas is great if you want to shop or party. San Jose del Cabo was quieter and prettier - very interesting excursion
Apart from shopping, there seemed little to do in town. A bus or taxi is needed to get into town. Dockside vendors can be quite aggresive in their sales techniquea
A mini-market surrounded by coal heaps, industry and power stations. NOTHING ELSE to do at port. Excellent rating is because of excursion into the Guatamalan Highlands. Guide was knowledgable and informative. Countryside was beautiful and at altitude, not so humid.
Willemstaad is a beautiful place to visit. The ships dock close to the Old town which is a delightful place to explore.
Amazing day spent in the rain forest and on the River Tarcoles. Saw lots of birds and crocs and heard howler monkeys. Guides excellent.
