Sail Date: Apr 2017

We chose this cruise as a short break and took our 30 year old son and his fiancé along with us. There was a wide range of ages on board, generally in the 40 - 70 age group, but also well behaved babies and school age children too (who seemed to be enjoying the kids club). Our cabin was far larger than I had expected and certainly a lot bigger than our cabin on Sun Princess in 2016. Our shower was over a bath, not problem for us but may be difficult for less agile older folk to get in and out of. Our cabin did not have a bar fridge and while I thought we would miss not having one, it really did not impact our holiday at all. I loved the food in all of the eating areas (the Pantry set up worked really well) and we booked and ate twice at Dragon Lady as it was exceptional. Serves there were small but you can order more if you want. Food in the Waterfront was also very good (just make sure you book as early as you can to get the time you want - bookings are taken each day from 8 am - 12 noon). We also paid $20 a head for High Tea at Luke Mangan's Salt Grill. Exceptionally good value (only available at 3pm on sea days - book as soon as you board to secure a seat). We didn't end up using the Gym as it was far too hot in there....which was disappointing (P & O please check the air conditioning to make sure it is working properly). This ship has nice public areas but we did notice that some of the seating in the Dome is starting to look tired. Same can be said of the cabana day beds on Deck 10 in the Oasis. I would have no hesitation in boarding Pacific Eden again for a cruise as we enjoyed our time on board.

Cabin Review

Cabin obstructed view

avoid this cabin at all costs - unless you are a smoker and want to join the nightly impromptu party (smoking, drinking, shouting, singing etc etc) outside its window until the wee small hours....it has a designated smoking area outside it on the promenade deck (one of only two smoking areas on the ship- the other is on deck 12) and the party goers were often leaning on our window that was a matter of inches from our heads while we were trying to sleep. P & O investigated what was happening and despite moving the offenders on, they returned time and again, night after night. The ships Galley was also above us and staff there seemed to finished for the day about 11pm and started again about 6am - we just heard the sound of trolleys being wheeled around and metal trays being shifted - nowhere near as annoying or disruptive as the partying smokers. We shifted to another room on a lower deck #4170 (ocean view) after two nights and enjoyed being there in a far quieter setting.
