Next day took a cab (@$20.00) to the Port of Miami. Embarkation was efficient and smooth at around 11:30am. Went to the Atrium area (after the glass of champagne!) and found a nice little table with a good view. Husband needed to stay inside because of the intense heat outside! Kids (age 12 and 14) and I did a bit of exploring. The views of Miami from the ship were beautiful. The rooms were ready around 1:30pm. We had a balcony and an inside (right across from each other on deck nine. But rooms were clean and very nice. The only drawback is that the room were small (I must tell you though that the last two cruises we were on we had suites). Did muster drill (not too long or too annoying) and then went from the front of the boat to the back of the boat to watch sail away (along with a Carnival and an RCI ship sailing away with us).
We ate in Il Adagio the first night. We made reservations for 6pm but really did not have to. Food was excellent. Our kids tried some new foods and enjoyed them all (they are normally picky eaters).
That night we went to Captain Cooks bar (excellent bartender - Francisco) and met Tim Kaminski (and his wife). Since we had a drink with them we decided to go to the first night show. We never went to any of the shows on our previous cruises but we were really glad we went to this one. Matt Baker was great and Leo from Rio was really entertaining but Tim Kaminski was the best. We laughed continuously at his show! His jokes were hilarious for both us and our teenage kids.
Next day we had breakfast in Crossings at @ 8am. No wait, nice table, excellent service. The food was really good.
Went to Atlantis (did the Comfort Suites thing- took a cab both ways) here are my thoughts: - it was hot and crowded so those two points may influence my opinion. - Atlantis is big and difficult to navigate. It is beautiful but not outstanding. - The level of service is extremely poor. There seems to be no one around to answer questions and even when getting a drink the staff seemed to be annoyed to wait on you. - What we got to see of the waterpark was just mediocre. - Would not go back again.
Came back from Atlantis and hung around pool bar. That was relaxing.
Went to Crossings for dinner - good food here also.
Went to Tim Kaminski's show at night - again laughed non stop.
Hung out a bit at Captain Cooks - best bar on ship.
Next day ate at buffet - really good breakfast - a little "busier" than dining room.
Did Great Stirrup Cay - tenders were not bad. The island was nice. We got chairs in the shade and both swam and snorkeled.
Husband and I ate at Le Bistro this night. The food was incredible along with the service and atmosphere.
Just hung out on balcony after dinner and packed.
Overall thoughts: - We bought the Anniversary package. Well worth it - chocolate covered strawberries and canapes were delicious, champagne was good and wine at Le Bistro was very good. - A three night trip is really not long enough - spent too much time on the "travel" portion and not enough time on the "relax" portion. - The Norwegian Sky is a beautiful clean ship. I especially liked the small areas, bars and dining rooms on the ship. - Service was excellent. Crew was friendly and attentive. - Casual dress atmosphere - really enjoyed that.
Overall great cruise - would recommend to anyone.
