Went with group of friends and family. From 6 months before to all during the cruise everything is upsell. There main focus is "how can we get a few more dollars from the people on our ship before they escape". From the constant sales pitches trying to sell you more trips, booze, cheezy merch and crappy jewelry, to bland food and slow service designed to drive you to pay extra food venues, you are a constant target. Leaving the boat docks with long walks through mazes of the same crappy souvenir kiosks to get to transportation you can escape to the care of some fairly desperate island people with little other way to make a living other than to pry some more of your dollars away. Despite this, the islands were actually the most enjoyable part of the trip. Back under the control of the ship they like to send young people with cameras at you at many different choke points and then try to sell you the pics they take for hundreds more. The service is ok, but you can never shed the guilt that the crew is underpaid and over worked in the 70hr, 7 day work weeks they endure. They probably get the mandatory automatic tips as part of their salary (really just a way for them to advertise lower than actual cruise prices) and act very fearfull like any transgression will result in immediate termination. Btw, I paid for a seaside balcony and don't mind paying for what I want. On vacation, I want relaxation, not a constant time share sales pitch.
