Dubai, our port city, was on my bucket list and the rest just fell into place since we hadn't traveled the Middle East it was an opportunity. We really enjoyed the private tours we set up in Dubai and enjoyed the older section where we stayed.
The ship was great and the entertainment was beyond my expectations. Much better than the last few cruises. Our cabin was small considering it was a balcony room. Our service in every area was outstanding. We opted to go private tours for the big ones(price and convenience) and were not disappointed. Didn't miss the big bus tours with fewer stops. We opted to do Hop On Hop Off three times and found them to be the best way to see the sights and to get to places we wished to see. We were not concerned with security as NCL took care of that aspect in concern area and the rest was fine.
My only complaint was that we were held up for customs clearance in Israel and NCL opted to let people holding ship tours off first, and then private tours. This was not really fair to the passengers that had set up their own tours. We were treated like we weren't important. We were two hours late in meeting our guides. Fortunately for us, we were still given the full tours and not rushed.
Cabin was quite small for this category. There was little room to pass around the bed and the mini sofa crowed the bed. The table below the TV by the slider stuck out and the chair beside it was in the way. Bathroom was reasonable. One should expect it to be small but it wasn't too bad. Closet was small and whoever designed the shelving inside the closet is nuts. It's too hard to get to your things when you use the hangers and the light provided does nothing to see into the shelves. Decor was pleasant.
Very good tours and so much to see. Amazing site. Could have spent the day taking pictures.
Very good tours and so much to see. Some walking and steep in and out of the tombs. Heat can be quite a factor.
Lovely trip to Knossos to see the ruins of the palace of the Minoans.. We waited in line for about 45 minutes to get in but it was worth it. Then back to town to see the Archaeological Museum which is a must after seeing the palace. This museum is amazingly impressive and so well laid out. We needed more time to spend there.
We had been there before and saw the city and outlying areas but had never walked the wall. This was a fun exploration of climbing up and down and seeing many sights from up above. It can be a bit strenuous and is a fairly long walk. Add heat to that but do go do it early and miss the crowds.
