We did not have a chance to explore San Francisco before departure since we travel from the east coast the same day as departure. Don't expect to get airport transfers from Oakland to the ship, there aren't any...so, you'll need to take a taxi, Uber or public transportation.

The embarkation process was outstandingly proficient, and we could not believe our bags were delivered to our stateroom within 90 minutes of drop off at the pier. Great views from deck 14/15 of the bay at the sail-away party as the ship departs -- especially when passing under the Golden Gate Bridge. The ship is not the newest of the fleet and definitely shows its age (kind of like a lot of the passengers).

The cabin was in good condition but very, very small! The maitre'd helped us with dining arrangements and gave us a specific table for all 15 days in the Da'Vinci dining room (make sure this is one of your first stops after boarding). The food was spectacular! Our waiters provided the best service we've experienced on any prior cruise. The entertainment was okay but does not compare to the superclass ships out of Ft Lauderdale with promenades and ice skating rinks.
