I chose the Allure of the Seas because it was the sister ship of the Oasis of the Seas on which I traveled three years ago and had such a great time. The shows were excellent, especially Mama Mia and the two Headliner shows. We were disappointed that after booking the shows, so that we would have a show on each of the at sea days, we were notified our reservations were changed to other days, so that we did not have a show to go to on the days we cruised. We did enjoy the music at Dazzles and Jazz 4. Because of the weather, we were never able to see the show in the Aqua Theater. I saw the one on the Oasis and was looking forward to seeing it again with my friend, a first time cruiser.
Our main dining room servers couldn't have been any better. They anticipated our every need and were so friendly and informative.
I was disappointed in the variety of activities during the days we were at sea cruising. One of the benefits I've found in going on a cruise is that since you pay upfront there are usually only additional drink charges if you decide you do not need the drink package. It seemed as if most of the activities for seniors during the day charged extra, i.e. galley tour, yoga, guacamole class, etc. I had been on a great kitchen tour on another cruise line, and wanted my friend to see how everything is done. This was a common complaint I heard from others that I met who had been other cruises.
I enjoy being on Central Park with a balcony. It's relaxing to being able to sit out there and listen to the piano music at night.
