We had read several reviews that had us a bit worried about the food and service on this cruise. We are a family of 4, with an 11 year old daughter and 18 year old son. We all have cruised a lot, with one Disney cruise, multiple Carnival and multiple Royal Caribbean cruises.
The embarkation was a breeze. I think the total process took us about 20 minutes. We were on the ship by 11, but our cabins were not available until 1. We had a Boardwalk balcony cabin for the kids on deck 12, with my husband and me across the hall with an ocean view balcony. The Boardwalk balcony was fantastic to watch the Finelines Aqua show and just sit and watch all of the happenings on the Boardwalk. When we booked this room, the ship was still being built and we did not realize that the Abyss slide was going to be on the Boardwalk, so this did obstruct the show a bit. The room could be noisy at night. Our ocean view balcony room was quiet. The new cabin design is a bit better than on the Oasis. Harmony has more outlets and also usb outlets. The actual ship is incredibly beautiful.
There are numerous dining options. We ate in the Main Dining Room every night for dinner and had amazing service. The food was above average, with some nights being very good, and others sub-average. The Windjammer breakfast was better than I seemed to remember it being on my previous cruises. We had excellent salads for lunch at Park Cafe. We did eat at Johnnie Rocket's for lunch one day, and that was your typical Johnnie Rockets...nothing special. Normally we eat at Chop's Grill one night on each cruise, but we opted not to because we enjoyed our random table of 10 so much!
