This Southern Caribbean cruise was my third on the Grandeur and there are several reasons for choosing the ship: I live in Baltimore and the pier is only 15 minutes from home; the pier is directly off I-95; everyone at the cruise pier from the folks taking your luggage, to security to check in are efficient and professional; the ship is the right size; the officers, staff and crew are friendly and accommodating. A major factor is that passengers are a friendly lot, everyone asking "where are you from" ....could be someone in the next block to some one only a state or two away. I travelled solo and always felt comfortable with making new acquaintances. My ocean-view cabin was on deck three, very quiet and convenient. I learned from my second Grandeur cruise to bring a pillow from home as those provided don't 'fluff' very well. Cabin attendant was efficient and pleasant as were the dining room waiter and assistant waiter. The food in the Windjammer and main dining rooms was fine; I did not dine in any of the specialty restaurants. The headliner (non production) shows were good. Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and am booked for two more 12-night cruises in 2018. Like many others on board, I'm a repeat fan of the Grandeur.
For those travelling from other states or countries, come a day or two head of the cruise. Baltimore has much to offer with Fort McHenry (not far from the ship), the aquarium and science centers and professional sports teams.
