My third Hurtigruten cruise of the incomparable Norwegian fjords, and the newly renovated Polarlys has gotten just about everything right. Unlike some past sad experiences with surly crew members on other Hurtigruten ships, this time the staff couldn't have been more helpful- and sincerely friendly. I got the definite feeling Hurtigruten is really trying to achieve serious cruise standards, and not just be a means of transportation.

Embarkation in Bergen was easier than ever, as was disembarkation.

The new cabins have the most comfortable double beds imaginable, with high quality linens and giant pillows. lots of hot water for your shower, a hair dryer (don't mix the two!) Many electric points for plugging into. There is now a charge for WiFi on board, which used to be free. I find this tacky, especially since WiFi is freely available in Norway.
