Decided to take a short cruise mid year before our 15 day transatlantic in October and wanted to visit a couple of ports we actually haven't been to. There aren't many left. So we chose this one since it visited Roatan and Belize - new to us. We were a bit hesitant about the April date as it was still spring break for some and that is not our ideal time to cruise because of the large amount of children during this time. Not that we don't like children, but having endured 700 of them one time on an April cruise, it was horrible and something we vowed never to do again. As seniors, we like some peace and quiet.

Things started out a bit rocky as the ship wasn't cleared right away when it came into port the day of embarkation, so to say it was backed up at boarding time is an understatement. The port staff weren't really all that great about getting people into the right lines and into the terminal. Our friends stood in line (the wrong one) for almost an hour. After boarding and relaxing for a bit we went to grab a bite but the line to get into the buffet was out the door and a mile long. The worst I've ever experienced. Same thing happened the next morning at breakfast as they only had one side open. We were at sea and obviously everyone would be up and about at the same time. One line really! This happened several times. When it was the busiest, they would only have one side open and took their good old time opening the second side. The other thing is that they served the exact same food in the buffet two days or more in a row. Never experienced that either. Trash cans on the pool deck were often overflowing as it appeared they were trying to do more or the same with less staff. There was often a language problem with the staff and many of them didn't act very happy. Trying to find someone to take a drink order on the pool deck or get something in the buffet dining room was often a problem. So unlike Princess.

The food was very consistent and good in the main dining room and no complaints there or with the service staff. Hamburgers and pizza were also good as was the soft serve ice cream. Our room steward was very sweet and helpful and took very good care of us.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BD

Typical Princess balcony - smaller than other line's standard balcony cabins but with much more storage space and better set up with closet. Bathroom on small side but doable. New beds finally and very comfy. Balcony decent size. Clean and well maintained.

Port Reviews

Belize City

Road around in an open air trolley that was bumpy and the city was very depressing.
