We had an adequate transatlantic crossing. It had some good points, but overall was just OK. We've been on 22 cruises and traveled many lines, some luxury and some mass market, but this was our first time on Princess. First the things we liked:
Embarcations & Disembarkations: The ship was delayed in reaching Ft. Lauderdale for our departure, but we received warning e-mails, and we followed instructions and did not arrive at the port until after 5:00, thus avoiding all crowds. We simply walked on board. At all ports, leaving the ship and returning were seamless experiences, and our departure in Southampton was super smooth and quick. Much better than some other large ships we have been on.
Food in the Coral Dining Room: We ate most of our meals in Club Class in the Coral Dining Room and we were pleasantly surprised by the food quality and variety. This was some of the best food we have had on a ship. The service was also excellent as we were served by the same team at each meal and they made an effort to know us. Lovely experience.
We loved this large suite and spent a lot of time there. Nice rear-facing balcony with a view of the ship's wake. Lots of space to spread out and a real separation between sleeping and sitting areas. OK bathroom, but no place to store your toiletries.
It's nice to go into Cork for lunch. Easy ride into town on the train.
We took a cab into Honfleur and had a lovely day eating lunch and wandering the town. Great day.
