We did not have a say in selecting this cruise. Our daughterinlaw set it up as a family group cruise. We were generally "satisfied" but I'll elaborate. Our last two cruises were on Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Carnival finishes a poor third behind NCL in first place and Royal in second. Food OK, very good in the main dining room. Layout of buffet confusing and chopped up. Norwegian a clear winner. Room, very good. Nice layout and the best cruise ship bathroom we've experienced. Shower big enough for 6'2" me although water pressure could have been better. Bed, great. TV average. Steward did a good job.
Took only one excursion which was billed as a Tequila factory tour of two distilleries but both were as much shopportunities as they were informational or interesting tours. Someone is making a lot of money in addition to shopping commissions for delivering potential customers to these two distilleries. Entertainment: On both NCL and RC we looked forward to terrific entertainment, night after night. This was not the case on Miracle. Entertainment was done "on the cheap" with staff dancers the most prominent headliners rather than outside entertainers. There were two comedians; we only attended one of them and he was marginally funny. Embarkation and debarkation were outstanding as we purchased "Faster to the Fun" upgrade for $69.95. We were on board before one PM and debarkation took only a few minutes after the higher grade premium passengers were off. We visited the casino constantly and were very pleased with the variety of slots and the conduct overall of personnel. Also, the machines were not packed in so tight which made it easy to avoid the smokers. I felt the machines must have been set up with very reasonable house edge because at some time on almost every day I could have quit "ahead" for the trip. I ultimately did lose a couple of hundred dollars but enjoyed the play very much as did my wife.
My "poor" rating for value, below, is in comparison with a similar cruise in 2009 which was more enjoyable at half the price, and a seventeen day Panama Canal transit cruise on NCL from SF to Miami in October of 2015 at exactly twice the cost but with gratuities and premium dining included. By comparison this cruise was very poor value.
Very good in all respects. Quiet; great bed; best/roomiest bathroom we've experienced in six other cruises.
