I have to say i was very impressed with NCL's Breakaway. I've read a lot of negative reviews but my family and I (husband, 2 boys; ages 9 and 11, my husband's aunt and uncle) had a great time on this cruise.

I'm comparing this to the Gem, which we sailed on last April. In terms of food, the food on Breakaway was awesome. We actually lounged in the Garden Cafe on our last day for hours! I can honestly say I didn't have a bad meal at the buffet. We ate at Savor and The Manhattan Room and the food was great.

We had a mini suite and the balcony was way smaller on this ship than on the Gem. Couldn't really stretch out and lounged on the balcony. Also with the bunk bed from the ceiling, it made the room a bit cramp for us. It would have been nice if Breakaway had the curtain that separates the room a bit. This was on the Gem and it was nice to have a bit of privacy from the boys. :)
