Embarkation was quick and painless (Fort Lauderdale) and the stateroom was ready very quickly. We were in a balcony cabin and it was neat and clean but with some signs of its age. A bit of wear on the sofa, some discoloration around the shower and rust on the balcony but all in all a nice room with comfortable bed and very attentive room attendant.
We missed out on my time dining and ended up with second seating in the main dining room at 8:30PM. Neither of us likes eating that late so we spent many nights in either Giovannis or Chops. We also had a delightful night at the Captain's table and I strongly recommend it to anyone who has never eaten there. The menus at both restaurants could use some more variety. By day 7 we had eaten each of the entrées from both menus that interested us and we were stuck with duplication if we didn't want to eat at 8:30.
The theatre was only so-so. The song and dance show was a repeat of a mediocre show we had seen 16 months before on another ship. It turned us off the theatre for the rest of the cruise. The only salvation was the piano bar in the Schooner lounge. The performer (Danny Burgess) was terrific and while a talented musician he was a master at getting the audience involved.
