Our trip began with a three-day pre-cruise in Tuscany which set the mood for the entire trip. About thirty folk made a similar choice for the pre-cruise, and we were located in a beautiful old villa set amongst vineyards and olive trees. We had excellent care at the villa, exceptional meals, and Viking provided an exceptional tour director who stayed with us from landing at the airport until we were on the Viking Sea in Venice. We toured Florence, Sienna and San Gimignano, each city offering its own history and charm. We dined in a local restaurant in Florence, a local vineyard and a farmhouse in the countryside.

The ship was elegant and comfortable, with numerous spaces in which to relax or meet friends for a drink and conversation. The cabin was very comfortable with adequate storage space, coffee maker, plenty of hangers. The bathroom floor was heated and the fogless mirrors were wonderful! Our cabin steward was helpful and took good care of us. Anything we needed, he could and would handle. Restaurants were grand. We dined at each one on more than one occasion. Food was outstanding, service second to none. Each restaurant offered its own charm and personality, with fine cuisine at all.

Shore excursions were offered that should please all interests. We were pleased with our choice and felt that we were given a glimpse into cities we had not seen before. One of our favorite excursions was climbing the city walls in Dubrovnik. Such a thrill and such sights!
