Sail Date: Feb 2017
Cabin: Balcony

I've been on three cruises and this one was the worst yet. Our first cruise was with Princess and the second with Carnival both were significantly better than this one. Where do I begin? First, the whole idea of a vacation is to relax, that did not happen.

Before we even set sail, we had to have the shower curtain changed and the bathroom in the cabin cleaned. My wife was gagging from the odor. The room carpet was filthy as was the bed skirt. You could see they had not been cleaned in some time. Overall, the steward kept the room clean as best he could, but it's obvious Princess doesn't spend money keeping the carpets, curtains, etc. clean. The mattresses were wore out and uncomfortable. I had to tolerate engine or drive shaft vibration that kept me awake every night. How does one relax under those circumstances?

The first night in the restaurant was the worst. I ordered fettuccine and it was dried out as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for over an hour. I gave up trying to get it returned and just sucked it up. The food overall is just average, nothing exciting to speak of. There were a few meals that were good, but I can't even recommend them because of just how average they are. The last night they paraded the staff around as if they were special - no they weren't. I recommend removing the head chef and replace him with someone that cares about his job.

Cabin Review

Balcony

The steward was very friendly and attentive. I believe he did the best he could considering the circumstances. He is the only person on the cruise that actually earned an additional tip. The cabins on this ship are begging to be cleaned and updated.

Port Reviews

Mazatlan

We chose to not do an excursion here. We tried to change, but were unable to so we chose to stay on the ship. The excursion desk did nothing to help accommodate us.
