Our party of 4 were expecting a lot from this ship. Travel agents advertised it as 5 star but we were all of the opinion this was not the case. Embarkation took 2 hours, with both the cruise line and international terminal both blaiming each other. Constant queueing onboard and for a 2800 passenger ship seemed very bad organisation. Bar service, no matter which bar was very poor. I can only assume this is from lack of staff. Food was very good and we enjoyed our meals from the main dining room to the specialty restaurants. New Zealand was gorgeous and really laid on the fine weather for us. We have sailed with NCL and Carnival before, both being classed as 4 star ships, this was actually our 6th cruise. If making the toilets pretty and supplying a bathrobe make for a 5 star ship, then we will gladly go for 4 stars where there is no queuing, even though the ships are the same size.

My main complaint is the discrimination or the different class of cabins. Everywhere we went we had to show our cards to determine if we were welcome in this or that dining room or seating for the theatre. Even to embarkation, where we actually had arms out to halt our progress in getting aboard. I have been in suite cabins, balcony cabins and mini suite cabins. Yes it is nice jumping ahead but please don't be rude to the other passengers just trying to get good service. Sorry but never again Carnival.
