This was our 25th cruise and overall, the Majesty of the Seas presented well for a 25 year old ship. I have read where it will be retired in 2018, but when asked, several crew staff denied this or knew nothing about the ship's future. The RCI port staff personnel at Port Canaveral were exceptional- friendly, helpful and enthused. The suite guest waiting area was much appreciated offering coffee, juice, sweets, etc. The wait time was minimal which allowed us to board within 20 minutes of our arrival. The age of the ship was apparent as several areas appeared worn and weathered. Our junior suite was small but offered the amenities we hoped for including the veranda. Our cabin steward, Narhoni, was pleasant and kept our cabin clean and supplied with ice and coffee as we requested. The food overall was very good. Starlight, the main dining room, was exceptional. Head waiter, Cesar, and assistant waiter, Oscar were perfect for all of our meals. We would ask for them in the future if on the next RCI ship we cruise.

The ports of Coco Cay and Nassau were not new to us as we have visited them before and did not spend much time on either. Plus, there were a total of 5 cruise ships in Nassau which makes for a very large crowd. We cruise to be on the water, meet the crew and not spend time in port. Mike, the cruise director was on the Enchantment of the Seas last year when we took the same cruise in February 2016. Informative and articulate, but his "Bing-Bong" routine at the end of each announcement was a bit overdone and tiring. He needs to try a new closing line ! The new and unexpected surprises on this cruise included new fees- $7.95 for room service, except for a continental breakfast, a $6.95 cover charge for Johnny Rocket"s burger joint, two different gratuity structures, $13.50 per person per day for a regular cabin and $16.50 per person per day in suite cabins, and a $99 fee per person for two chef table meals. The 18% gratuity on drinks is the same as last year but it still adds up. On a $7 glass of house chardonnay the total comes to $8.26. Our cruise experience generally reflects a happy, enthusiastic crew. Not only did it appear there were fewer crew members on board than usual, their demeanor struck us as sluggish and not so friendly. The disembarkation process was well organized and the crew monitored the passengers into lines to remain orderly and maintain efficiency. The only deficit was the customs staff who seemed none too motivated to grant clearance off the ship. One other minor detail- the ship has downgraded from a 4 ply to a 2 ply toilet paper. So if you're planning on one of the 6 course meals, you've been warned! All things considered on a very short cruise of 4 nights and 5 days, we gave The Majesty of the Seas an 8 out of 10.
