We chose this as it was a great deal and we had been recommended NCL by family members. We sailed out of Barcelona on the Grand Mediterranean cruise. All of the ports were interesting and we enjoyed exploring a new ship and cruise line.

We were very grateful to the reviews on here which prepared us for some of the "cons" of the cruise line and ship but those aside we loved it.

Pros- The main pros are the staff and the entertainment and most of the food. The cruise director, Joel, is hilarious and all his team go out of their way to make sure people have fun. The band, Prism, are good too. What is best is that there is a nightclub for youngsters and the Galaxy bar for mainly over 30s to enjoy. They try to cater for all. Also, the pool and hot tub are adult only in the main area and this is enforced - we hadn't seen this on other lines.

Balcony

Cabin BD

Cabin was small but had all you need. It was a little noisy at night from ship workings but you couldn't hear it much when balcony shut. It was well located for access to all areas.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Embarked.

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

We got the hop on /off bus and got off at the palace then walked all the way down from there to port. It was great and included the cathedral and parks.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We got the train to Tarquinia having been told the one bus had gone by 9am - reviewers on here suggested a later time. A nightmare. It took ages to get a bus into the town from train station. We took in a rather scenic route too.

Eventually got there and did the musuem etc - then everything shut- for hours.

We had to wait nearly two hours for next train having been refused a ticket on bus back (despite being told on here and in the village that you could do so). All in all not the best day.

Naples

Caught a bus to Sorrento - gorgeous. Naples is not a place to visit -do a trip or go elsewhere yourself.

Crete (Heraklion)

We got the port shuttle to town and it was great. Lots to see. The sea organ was brilliant.

Quaint old town in centre. Loved it.

Athens (Piraeus)

Hop on/off a great resource here. We took the red line to the Acropolis then the green to the beaches which are stunning.

Zadar

Got the shuttle from ship to town. The sea organ was very moving and beautiful. The old town was pretty and lots to see. Some very original art work in shops that are worth buying
