Sail Date: Mar 2017
Cabin: 2-Bedroom Family Suite with Large Balcony

We recently sailed on the POA on the March 25th to April 1st cruise in the 2 bedroom large family suite 10678 (on the aft port side). Like any ship, the cabins are not huge, but we had four adults (two in the master bedroom, one in the second bedroom with the pull out sofa and one in the main room with the pull out sofa). Unfortunately, we only had one bathroom. I will say with this cabin, we were below one of the bars. We did have noise in the early hours when crew staff were cleaning the decks.

We arrived in Honolulu March 22nd and stayed at the Aston at the Executive Center. This is the only hotel I could find in downtown Honolulu and is actually a Condominium complex that is also operated as a hotel. Located just 0.7 miles from Pier 2, you could technically walk to the pier (although we ended up taking Uber). While in Honolulu, we visited Pearl Harbor (we made a reservation two months prior through www.recreation.gov/showPage.do?name=landing&landing=/htm/pearlharbor/home.jsp&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72369#phWalkupTickets. You can book tickets starting two months in advance, but tickets go quick, so don’t delay. Having a time before you go means you don’t have to stand in line the day you want to visit. We also visited Iolani Palace (also book a day and time early if you can) and Bishop Museum. Both were well worth visiting.

During embarkation on the POA, you still need to go through the main security line, but then are fast tracked to the Suites check in. You then have a butler escort you onto the ship. Our butler escorted us to Cagney’s where we enjoyed lunch reserved specifically for Suite’s customers.

Cabin Review

2-Bedroom Family Suite with Large Balcony

Cabin SI

The cabin was big enough for the four adults with two adults sharing the master bedroom with the queen bed, one adult in the second bedroom (with pull out couch) and one adult in the main room (with pull out couch). Housekeeping made up all rooms each night and returned the cabin to its daytime mode each morning. The cabin itself is located underneath the bar on Deck 11, so there is some noise in the early hours due to crew members cleaning the deck. The single bathroom is also tight for four adults, but I booked the Thermal Suite for the week, so was able to enjoy my showers in the spa on Deck 12. Well worth the price.
