I just return with my family of 5 from the NCL Getaway Western Caribbean cruise and experienced some disappointing things with this ship. We have three children from age 4-10.
When we arrived to check in on the first day we were informed our room had been changed but no answer as to why. I then had to wait over an hour once boarding the ship to get our luggage straightened out because our luggage was all tagged for the room we booked, not the one we were switch to. We later found out it was because the room we book was under repair, however I do not understand why NCL could not have sent that information before hand so our luggage could have been tagged correctly.
We booked this ship because of the aqua park which has water slides and the ropes course since we were traveling with children. The information given about the ship it talks about the aqua park on deck 15 with two pools and in the deck plans it shows that the two pools are the same size. However when we boarded the ship we found out that the main pool in the center of the ship on deck 15, which is the largest pool was for adults only. There are also to other adult only areas with deck chairs for being in the sun. This left all of the families traveling with children on the ship confined to a small area if they wanted to be in or around a pool that had I would guess about 75 deck chairs and only 8-10 of those chairs are in the sun. This area was extremely crowded with many families trying to spend some time at the pool. I have cruised on other cruise lines many other times and have never experienced the large main pool being an adult only pool.
The cabin was very narrow. There was only 12 inches of space between the end of the bed at the front of the room and the wall.
