We have been on a Royal Carribean cruise before and this one did not meet my expectations. Sailed on the Brilliance of the Seas, which must be an older ship as amenities were somewhat behind the times. There was only one outdoor pool for adults/teens, as the other two were used for small children and an indoor solarium (which seems an odd thing to have when you're sailing the Caribbean). Bar service on the pool deck was lacking. No roaming waiters on first day at sea and lines at bar were very long - probably 15 minutes to get a drink. I bought the bar beverage package, but found out I could only get one drink every time I went to the bar. Plus buckets of beer were excluded. This meant I spent about 20-30 minutes of every hour waiting for bar service on our first day. The "MyTime" dining arrangements seemed to be a cluster. We made reservations every night, but still seemed to wait 15-20 minutes for a table. And the Maitre D seemed to be constantly struggling to find table arrangements, and we were only a party of 3. One day they even squeezed us around a table for 2.
The rooms were OK and certainly clean. The stateroom attendant and dining room staff were very friendly. I would sail RCI again, but definitely not this ship.
Room was just OK. Looked closely at the ship map prior to booking. Thought we had booked a cabin near stairs, so we could quickly get to the pool deck/Windjammer. Turns out the staircase by our room was for staff use only. Would have been nice if that had been noted on the ship map.
Easy embarkation process. Long line to get off. Only 3 customs agents working the port on debarkation.
Just another place in Mexico. It gets tiring being hawked by the locals to come in to their shops. With as much business as the cruise ships bring to this island, you would think they might have some sway with the local authorities to tone down this activity.
