We chose Carnival from previous experience, price and amenities offered. Our group consisted of 3 adults and 1 Eleven yr old, booked in 2 Balcony rooms on deck 7. (1 port side and 1 starboard). having only cruised the South Pacific previously, the size increase and passenger count on the Freedom is noticeable at first and on port stop debarkation.
The food is good with many options through the day and even my very particular wife was able to find options at all meal times. of special note for us were the Blue Iguana Cantina and Guys Burgers for lunch and the Deli which is open most of the day. Freedom serves the American Table/Feast menus in the Dinning room. While both are good, we felt the Feast on the formal nights was a bit restrictive in options. We started at Sea day brunch, but move to the Lido deck for a better selection.
The Main shows were very underwhelming with the performers over singing and other sound issues while the comedy shows were excellent.... if you could get in!! the performers around the ships bars and rooms were pretty good.
Positives - Offers good views, space. Balcony has 2 reclining deck chairs and a small table.
Negatives - Mattress and bed worn, Fridge not working properly. service staff storage and meeting rooms outside door
good port for embarking and debarking. lots of parking nearby - we used EZ Park and their Park and walk option (dropped the bags, mother in law and son at terminal 1st) only a 5 min walk back to terminal for a lil over $50
Depends on what you are looking for. I'm all for these places boosting their economies through tourism, but i think Jamaica is pushing it a bit far. other than that, for us it was pleasant with our taxi driver and we felt safe at all times
Tender Port. Lots of shopping, bars and restaurants. lots of public beaches
Busy but pleasant. looking forward to returning and exploring a lot more. good for gifts and 'Duty Free'
