This cruise left from Barcelona Spain, a wonderful city that we've visited several times over the years. There were 10 of us travelling together and almost everyone is a seasoned cruiser. My wife and I have cruised on Carnival, Celebrity, NCL, and Royal Caribbean. We have about 30 cruises under our belts but not trying to compare this cruise to the others that we've been on.

Getting on and off of the ship was really a breeze. Luggage was delivered to our cabin right away and when we disembarked our luggage was waiting for us in the terminal. That part was great.

The Norwegian Spirit is a smaller ship, about 72,000 tons and it's an older ship that is showing its age. Although it was clean and tidy, it appeared shopworn to us and in need of a major update. The public areas were very crowded throughout our 10 day cruise which made it unpleasant.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Our cabin was shopworn but clean. Everything worked fine except the shower door. And, the sliding door to the veranda was dirty. Our cabin steward was mostly invisible but made a few excellent towel animals.

Port Reviews

Tangier

City was kind of a letdown as it was fairly dirty and scary.

Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)

Nice island and fairly convenient to the port.

Tenerife

Enjoyed this stop, found some good food and cold beer.

Madeira (Funchal)

Beautiful island, very nice people, great food and drinks, and not expensive. However, it's quite a hike from the ship to downtown. Worth it but you'll get your exercise.
