Only our second cruise, and our first time on RCI. Embarkation was quick, well organised, and utterly painless. No surprises with the cabin. It wasn't huge, but it was plenty big enough for our needs. We hadn't eaten since 7am at the airport, so we dumped our bags in the cabin and went straight to the buffet. After a light (late) lunch in the buffet we had Muster Drill and the Sail-away.
We had My Time Dining so wandered down to the Dining Room to check it out. We found two Head Waiters attending to people waiting to get in. One was really helpful, and the other was polite, but not about to make any effort on our behalf. Guess which one we dealt with for the rest of the cruise? Food in the MDR was of a consistently high standard all the way through the cruise. I often read people criticising the food in these forums, and it makes me wonder what must they eat at home? Maybe they just like to criticise.
We ordered a Room Service breakfast one morning and ate it on the balcony as the ship sailed into Lautoka. A really nice way to start the day.
Pretty typical of this type of cabin. Plenty of hanging space and drawer space. Room under the bed for luggage (I leave the lid open, and slide it out like another drawer).
Shower was hot, pressure was good, more storage space in the bathroom.
Balcony was big enough to move around, and big enough for us both to sit and have a meal.
Bed was a little harder than I am accustomed to, but not uncomfortable.
Cabin steward was really great.
Lots of opportunity to explore on foot, and do some swimming/snorkelling. There are tours available from the pier. We didn't do any of these but they looked to be comprehensive and reasonably priced.
There is fresh cooked food available all along the beach here. Tasty and inexpensive.
Long scenic drive, followed by an informative and entertaining demonstration of firewalking and some of the primitive rituals from Fiji's past. Recommended.
