Carnival Destiny review for 6-25-09 cruise. Since I have found Cruise Critic very helpful in the past, I felt I should contribute our review of a recent cruise.

This was a four-day cruise from Miami, going to Key West and Cozumel. We felt the itinerary was backwards - we were in Key West from 7am to 2pm and Cozumel from 1pm to 10pm, with the last day at sea. We would have preferred a reverse order, getting into Key West late and staying into the night.

Background: this was our 13th cruise - mostly in the Caribbean - 3rd on Carnival - with five on Holland America and one on Princess. Since we've been to many of the islands, we consider that "the ship is the trip". The previous Carnival cruises were on the Victory in April of 2003 (a sister to Destiny) and we enjoyed it, particularly the entertainment. We were also on the Miracle in December 2007.

Cabin Review

Cabin: Good but liked Princess better. Balcony cabin 9184 on Lido deck. Very easy to get out to pools and get items from the Lido restaurant, but near the atrium lobby elevators and had some noise problems. Main complaint - they ran outdoor movies until late at night. One night was a kid's movie that wasn't over until 1:30am! Needless to say, the kids were running and yelling in hallways and lobbies. I spoke to Lauren Hoover in Guest Relations and Stephanie Meads the CD about the situation and suggested that if they are going to run late night movies on deck, they need to have security personnel in the halls and lobbies to keep down the noise. They both assured me they would look into having security on duty. I still don't understand the logic of having movies playing that late at night. Were also disappointed in the layout of the bathroom - the door opens inward, no shelving for toiletries and when on the commode your feet are practically in the shower. Also, after one day of very low water pressure, discovered that the filter was clogged with calcium deposits and cleaned it myself. Bed was comfortable and balcony was just large enough. However, at least on our balcony, it did not look like you could open the dividers between cabins without blocking our door out to the balcony.
