Here's the deal.....In my opinion the many time sailed HAL past passengers ( and avg age is much older than other cruise lines) don't like the ship as it is a departure from the older HAL ships.... something HAL has had to do to bring new customers to HAL. Otherwise HAL will struggle to grow. Therefore the 60% 'like' number doesn't reflect the great steps HAL has taken to move their brand forward, compete with other more upscale lines, Celebrity, Princess, etc.

Keeping with the 'midsize' ship strategy the 'K' has attempted to hold the old guard, bring in the new, with touches the HAL traveled customer will be drawn to but with a lot of new innovation Everything on the ship is 'brighter', art more modern, menu's more healthy, entertainment more contemporary, while espousing a more 'green' approach to life itself.

Foremost he "K" was designed around a Music arts theme.....you got to like this....or you don't. Some breakthrough steps forward...., the pseudo "in the round" main theater/stage, numerous varied music venues, the continued evolution of the cruise industry first of the kind culinary arts program, with farm to table classes and dining as well as adjacent wine enthusiast - the 'art of wine making.'Keeping with tradition the Pinnacle Grill and Canaletto serve top notch meals and service, and Ser de Mar is exquisite (at a price)!

Cabin Review

Verandah Stateroom

Cabin V

"Crotch" cabin.....where ship juts in/out, deck 7 toward back of boat. About 50 sf more interior space than normal balcony and 50% larger balcony. Bath small, small sinks, great lighted mirror, shower phenomenal, toilet angular position strange, not for large person easy access. Cabin has 50 sq more of angular space usefulness questionable but gives you the feeling you are in a suite. Great TV, great closet space, Great views from balcony. Could use some additional artwork, another sitting chair.... but if you can get this style cabin for a good price ....do it.
