We have always traveled with RC because it has the largest and best ships, the architecture and finishings on board are stunning, the crew and staff are friendly and helpful, the ports are various and the excursions are generally good. Being conservationists, we were not at all interested in the numerous dolphin, turtle, stingray excursions. We wondered what garbage is expelled into the sea, and what the grey smoke coming from the smoke stacks is. We wondered why the staff has to work seven days a week. We appreciated the safety standards and trust the captain and crew. We would love to have more in-depth talks about the culture/history/ecology of each port and also the history of the Caribbean and its creation by a meteor. We would love to have way less selling ~~ the Promenade resembled a flea market the last day at sea, and it was hard to walk through it. We would rather pay more for our cruise and get complimentary soft drinks and premium coffee. Nickel-and-diming does not "become" the Royal standard. We would like to see far more excursions that allow us to volunteer and actually help the people in the various port stops.
Our cabin, as expected, was very small. We had to move the glass table into the closet to be able to walk ~~ there were 3 adults ~~ and we could not sit on the couch because it held one of our suitcases. We could not hear the Captain's daily announcements in our room. The bathroom was very pleasant and functional, and all the little drawers in the room were helpful. Our room was very dark and quiet. A clock in the room would be helpful.
