To celebrate my husband's retirement we chose a 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise on Royal Princess. This was our 16th cruise and second on this ship. While a beautiful upscale ship, the rooms are smaller than other cruise ships. Our mini suite was about the same size as a balcony room on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian. The food on this ship is above average in comparison to other ships. Service is above average but since you pay more, you expect more.
The entertainment was the usual cruise ship fare with none of the performances above average. However, there was an excellent comedian whose name I unfortunately cannot remember. He was not vulgar in the least but had the audience roaring with laughter.
We took a shore excursion thru the cruise line in every port but St. Thomas. All were enjoyable except Antigua. The tour guide was evidently bored with her position and the tour was horrid. We drove up a mountain to what was supposed to be a drink and restroom stop. When we arrived we were told we could not use the restroom as it was having "issues" and were harassed by locals trying to sell handmade grass baskets. They gave u a fish made of grass when u exited the bus. Upon return to the bus if u did not buy one of their baskets they tried to charge you for the fish. It was a bit frightening.
Cabins are small and balconies are smaller. Hardly enough room for two on the balcony. Bathroom for a mini suite was as cramped as lesser priced rooms. The bathtub was a joke.
Very lovely private island.
