We chose this itinerary primarily because of the opportunity to go through the Panama Canal locks. The rest of the itinerary was fine. We used the ship's shore excursions for the ports except for Cartagena (private tour). Surprisingly, the ship's excursions turned out pretty well with the exception of the one in Panama.

Although the guide was very good, the trip itself was not great. If you have difficulty walking or balance problems, this excursion is not for you. It included a walk through the "rain forest," a stop at the canal locks, and a boat ride on Gatun Lake looking for wildlife. The walk in the rain forest was difficult due to numerous tree roots, fallen logs, narrow areas and a very uneven path. We did not see any wildlife during this portion of the trip.

All of the other excursions were very good. The Veragua rainforest in Costa Rica was a highlight of the trip. We took the aerial tram through part of the rainforest, climbed the stairs to view the waterfall, and saw animal life in the rainforest. Great excursion!

Needs sprucing up. Worn furniture and carpeting, torn bed skirt but a comfortable bed and pillows. A hairdryer in the wall is not convenient. Only two outlets for charging/plugging items doesn't cut it. The shower is very narrow and small. Ask for extra towels as there is only one set per person. Just two chairs in the room - one at the desk, and one slightly more comfortable.
