There was a large group of students from my school who wanted to go on a cruise. We chose the Norwegian Dawn because 1. it left out of New Orleans and we all wanted to go out on Bourbon street the night before 2. the price was decent and 3. there was an unlimited beverage package. No, maybe we weren't the most civil group and maybe we weren't every parent's favorite group on the ship, but we had a great time.

The inside cabins were about what you'd expect on any cruise size-wise, but the decor was nicer than most.

The buffet on the pool deck was smaller than most ships I've been on, but food was always consistently good. We ate in the Aqua dining room every night and it was WONDERFUL! Service was slow at times but we always enjoyed having a 3 (or 4 or 5) course meal and getting dressed up at night. We ate in the Venetian one morning for breakfast and the decor was very nice, but I head it got very crowded at night and service was slower, so we never went for dinner. Bamboo was ok and pretty slow service. We only went there once.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Clean, very nice, but maybe not the most authentic. Not sure how much ziplining over the ocean was but it looked like a lot of fun!

Costa Maya

Go to Mahahual beach. Drinks, restaurants, and beaches. There's a shuttle and the end of the port area that will take you for $3

Cozumel

Port was somewhat confusing to get out of. We booked our own snorkeling excursion to Chankannab (sp?) reef. Very cool.

New Orleans

Go to Cafe du Monde. And Mother's
