I booked with NCL because I've never cruised with them, my previous experiences have been with Carnival and Royal Caribbean. This was my 6th cruise and the only time I've ever been sea sick (not sure if it was a smaller boat or if the stabilizers weren't used.) The only decent food was at the specialty dining restaurants which cost more. The restaurants included w/ the fare all have the same menus and do not change. Breakfast, lunch and dinner choices are the same everyday. Dinner was at least a 2 hour affair every evening - very slow service. Lunch took well over an hour each day again slow service. The buffet was terrible, same choices everyday. Bottled water is not included! The central locations reeked of smoke. With 3 full days at sea there wasn't much entertainment offered and the theater seats were terrible - most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. Gym is very small. When leaving the ship we carried our own luggage in attempt to catch our train home, we waited in line for 1 hour & 45 minutes before we got to customs. Quite a bit of that time in line we were stuck in the smoky casino. The cruise was cheap. You get what you pay for. I will be sailing with Royal Caribbean next spring.
Bed was the hardest I've ever attempted to sleep on - other cruise lines use a pad to convert the 2 twin mattresses into a king to reduce the hard lump between the mattresses. Bed had a sheet covering the mattress, it wasn't even a fitted sheet, and a comforter. No top sheet to cover with. Had a balcony stateroom, refrigerator didn't work, shower didn't drain & entire bathroom floor had about 1/2 inch of water after showering. Toilet didn't flush and then would randomly flush on its own in the wee hours of the am when we were sleeping. Came back to our cabin after breakfast one morning and the toilet was stuck in flush mode. The loud sound could be heard long before we entered the cabin - had to find something to do until it was fixed because we couldn't be in our room.
Water park is awesome.
