Why chose this because of the itinerary. This is the first time we have been on Carnival (We went on the NCL Escape last year). It was a very good cruise but it lacked in Entertainment and Food. Also, the ports were ok and the shore excursion we picked was not what the description said. It was a 6 night Caribbean cruise that went to Ocho Rios, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk. Embarked and Disembarked in Port Everglades. I went with my 3 kids (Twin Boy & Girl 13) (Girl 16) and myself (the mother).

I will also be comparing the Conquest and the NCL Escape.

Cabin - OUR CABIN WAS AMAZING, plenty of room for everything, easily fit four people, bathroom was very nice and balcony was quite big too. Our steward Casy was very nice and was very helpful. (Our cabin was Balcony Deck 6) (6232).

Port Reviews

Ocho Rios

We went to the, "nicest" beach near the ship. Bamboo Beach. Our cab took us out there, that was perfectly fine. The beach was ok, lots of coral and bugs everywhere, there was even a sea snake in the water. Bleh! Chairs were expensive. The worst part though was when my family and another family came to pick our cab up. He NEVER came back!!! So we were waiting in the basking sun for someone to pick us up. AN HOUR LATER, his brother finally picked us up! Almost missed the ship! The people at the beach were not helpful, they said they would call, which they never did. They didn't do anything for us. They didn't partially refund us and they didn't even give us some water! (Thank god we brought some with us). We asked if we could take another cab and they said we would have to pay a second time!!! Very irritated. We finally got back to the ship in the nick of time. Would never go back to the beach.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Very nice, was very quick and easy, better than Miami.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

We went on the beach horseback riding excursion. The tour to get there was fine. But they were behind schedule and we had to wait in something like a barn for 30 minutes minutes. Then they put us on the horses, who were all kicking each other! Then we got to the beach, we never went into the water with the horse, which was ok. But the description said we would spend an hour on the beach. We got not even 5 minutes, that really irritated me. One girl even cut her leg when riding the horse, it was not that safe. We got back with an hour and a half to spare. Did the zip line, nothing great. Wish they had a beach or something nearby.

The excursion desk though did giver us a partial refund for the excursion.

Grand Turk

The beach was very nice, a little crowded, and annoying people were always walking around trying to sell stuff. The ocean was nice but a little cold. The worst part though was half of the time it rained, even the power went out!!!! We know it wasn't there fault but it was a little disappointing! So glad we didn't have a shore excursion planned! It would have been horrible.
