Always take grand kids somewhere during Spring Break. Since the oldest is now 17 we figured this would be the last one with her GP's. Started off badly with a missing passport, but with the help of a RC check in person, and a mother's trip from work to home to email a birth certificate it all worked out and we boarded our home for the next 4 Nights, the RC Enchantment of the Seas with stops at Coco Cay, Nassau, and Key West. The Enchantment is an older ship and has limited balconies, and since we booked late we had adjoining ocean view rooms. Nice rooms and well maintained (4520 & 4522). Small with the bed under the window and limited area to stow luggage. Bathroom with shower. Only issue with rooms was that we were just above the ships thruster's so when they were needed the rooms vibrated, otherwise very quiet. We booked "my time" dining and got a reservation for 6:45. The main dining menu was typical cruise fare with plenty of selections and fall back items. Food was good and the service was excellent. We did not visit any specialty restaurants. The buffet which we used for breakfast and late lunches was varied and again typical for cruise fare. Tables were always crowded, but we found a secluded area near the pool with plenty of tables. Just had to carry your food a short distance. CoCo Cay, RC's private island was very nice. Tender ride in with two nice beaches to choose from, and plenty of shore activities to take part in. Lunch time buffet with bbq overtones, but plenty of variety. Nassau was Nassau and if you have ever been you know what I mean. Look at Port Reviews to get an idea. Key West was nice. Docked right down town within an easy walk to all the sights. Four nights of entertainment, two productions with singing and dancers and the others with comedians/jugglers. Again typical cruise style entertainment, but worth seeing. All in all we had a very nice time and the GK's although they are Disney cruisers were happy and enjoyed the time on board and ashore. Would highly recommend this cruise if you are looking to get away for a few days.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin G

Since the Enchantment is an older ship, the cabins were small. Ours was located starboard side forward. As an Ocean view room, the bed was placed under the window so there would be more floor space. The cabin was well maintained with no deficiencies. Bathroom with shower and shower curtain. No place to store luggage, and we only had carry ons, but we made due. Good storage space for clothing and lots of hangers. Only two US plugs so if you need to charge lots of stuff, bring a strip. Might be cruise line policy, but we needed to ask for additional soap and shampoo. Rooms located above ships thrusters so when they were in use room vibrated, otherwise very quiet. Short walk to elevators and near buffet and pool. Had to walk all the way aft for Main Dining. Limited balcony cabins, so if you want one book early. If you're not claustrophobic, I would book and inside room rather than an ocean view and use the savings on other stuff.

Port Reviews

Miami

We live in FL so arrived just for the cruise, but have visited Miami many times. Miami has much to offer including South Beach. If you are taking a cruise from Miami, I would recommend arriving a day early and taking in the sights.

Nassau

Nassau is Nassau. You have to navigate the hawkers to get out of the Port area and then it starts to quiet down. Did our own walking tour including the Queen's Steps and Fort Fincastle. Bring water with you if you walk. Bay street shopping and then attempted the Straw Market. What a disappointment. Visited many years ago, and it was a real straw market, but now everything made in the Far East, and hawkers galore. Stay away.

Key West

Key West is pleasant and laid back. Ship ties up close to Mallory Square so most sights are within easy walking distance. Did our own walking tour to Hemingway's house and the Southernmost Point. Bring water. Saw mile marker "0" for US Route 1. A shoppers heaven to walk down Duval street, art galleries, and plenty of dining options. A quick stop in Kermits Key Lime House to replenish the makings of Key Lime Pie. Duval ST. was crowded even with only one ship in because Key West is also a tourist magnet for FL visitors. Always enjoy Key West
