On this cruise, I traveled with a young woman using an electric scooter and her young son with Autism. I was surprised to find that cruise ships are not as HA-friendly as I had believed them to be. (See review of cabin 14301). Some of the accessibility issues were caused by passengers and staff rather than ship structures.
Pros
A million kudos to Mary and Usha, Diamond Lounge concierges!! Their kindness to the young passenger with Autism almost made up for the negatives discussed below. Mary was leaving the ship at the end of the voyage but has trained Usha well to continue great customer service.
This would have been a perfectly acceptable cabin - except it was not accessible! The door to the cabin opened inward making it impossible for a person in a scooter to open the door to exit without additional help. (Oddly, the non-HA cabin across the hall opened outward). There needs to be a self opening button to push inside the cabin. There is no noise from the Boardwalk when the balcony door is closed.
