Booked this cruise for only two weeks after the Mariner of the Seas cruise. Being a newer ship, I was hopeful for better food. I was disappointed. On both ships, the dining room and buffet food are just not good. It sounds good reading the menu, it looks good hitting the table, but there is just not enough taste and flavor. It is bland cafeteria food. This was the second cruise for my SO, and again he was highly disappointed by the food. And I should note that we are not foodies and our standards are not unrealistic.
We did enjoy Izumi, two nights as a matter of fact once we found something truly tasty on the ship. But after paying for a cruise, paying another $60-$80 US for dinner just does not seem right to me. Shouldn't the included food be edible?
Food aside, it IS a beautiful ship. The spaces are stunning and I love this class of ship. BUT, it was a holiday week in Singapore, so our ship sailed with 4,907 pax. Public spaces were overcrowded everywhere. One afternoon it rained and the only place you could get away and breath was your own stateroom. Would not want to sail these ships in cold weather areas limiting use of the outdoor space.
Singapore is always great
Just another poor Asian city...nothing unique.
