We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We cruised 2 years ago on the Independence. The biggest difference that I noticed between the two ships is for some reason on the Jewel, I felt the movement of the boat constantly throughout the whole trip. I'm not sure if that's because the Jewel is smaller than the Independence or for whatever reason, but I definitely felt it at all times, and some days were worse than others. We had all sunny days, and granted the water looked choppy from time to time, but there were other times that the water looked smooth and I could still feel the movement of the ship. It was pretty bad every night as we were traveling to the next island. It wasn't enough to make me sick, but it was a definite movement and many, many passengers were commenting on it. For this reason alone, I would not book another cruise on this ship.

I thought the ship was clean and nice, and the crew were excellent. They work very, very hard. They were always friendly, and our cabin was kept spotless clean. The bed was a bit on the hard side, and, for me, I found that uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping on some nights. I agree with other posters that the food in the MDR was excellent at times, and then just average at other times. We enjoyed a delicious meal one day, and then the next day was disappointed. Stay away from the steak - just not good. The wait staff was excellent. We visited the Windjammer on several nights, and the buffet was always fine for us. I really had no complaints about it, except for on the last evening the variety was lacking, but I guess that's normal for the last day of a cruise. I didn't mind eating in the Windjammer from time to time, because we don't always like to be so dressed up and sometimes you don't want to spend 2 hours in the dining room.

Embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze. It was such a fast process on this ship.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

The interior cabin was obviously small, but sufficient for us. The bed was too hard for me, but the cabin steward kept our room spotless. Please tip your stewards on your departure. They really do deserve it. We may try a balcony room next time.

Port Reviews

San Juan

Visited Old San Juan on departure day. Fun and historic town. Worth the trip!

Antigua

Transported us from the port to Stingray City on a shuttle bus - about 25 mins. So much fun! Excellent, excellent tour! Book it! Guides are terrific. A great experience worth every penny! I would do this one again!

St. Lucia

We took a taxi to Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay, about 25 mins from the port. It seemed like a long ride because of all the bumper-to-bumper traffic. The beach was very pretty, but definitely a bit crowded. There is good food and many bars to chose from. They serve you drinks on the beach, and they are very reasonably priced. The water and scenery is really pretty on this island. Sailboats everywhere. There are vendors to deal with here, and some of them are relentless. Others walk away with a simple "no." Overall, we really had a nice, relaxing day, and enjoyed the beautiful beach.
