We ended up doing the Victor Bodden Fun and Sun private excursion in Roatan. This tour made this my favorite of all the ports. Dahlia was a wonderful guide who made the day special. 
This tour gave you time for shopping, tour of the island, trip to see the monkeys and birds as well as a few hours at a great beach resort where you could order lunch.

Great company and service.  Would highly recommend for families.  They were very conscientious and it was a comfortable drive.  There was lots of information that they gave you and it was just a very pleasant trip with a great guide.

Ruins were amazing, but it was very hot and crowded which was a major contrast to Chacchoben, which was cool and deserted.  
Tour was rushed and disorganized.
Buffet lunch was just okay.  Not many things for younger kids to enjoy.
Beach was nice, but noisy.  
Ferry ride from Cozumel was okay, but I'd recommend sitting outside if possible.
Overall, we just felt rushed and would probably opt for shopping or beach in Cozumel over going to mainland.

I'm disappointed that they are changing the itinerary next year and dropping Roatan as it was a wonderful place, but look forward to a great ship and crew in the future.The Windjammer was amazing with great staff and a better offering than any other ship I;ve been on.
