Sail Date: Feb 2017

The Viking Sea is a beautiful new ship. Sailed on the Secrets of the Southern Mediterranean the end of Feb. We had the least expensive class of cabin, and it was fine. We had read reviews that said there were only 3 drawers, but your steward will bring you all the hangers you want--good hanging space. The drawers in the bathroom were great, and plenty of little shelf space to put everyday toiletries. Veranda was nice and not cramped. We were on the starboard side (righthand side?) and it was the side to be on --sunset side! Ship was quiet, and we kept thinking it couldn't be sold out, but it was! Food was mostly very good, but the service at breakfast in the World Cafe was mostly non existant.

That said, Viking needs to work on communication and coordination between stateside offices and shipboard offices. We were never told that we were not allowed to leave the ship in Algeria, shore excursions were cancelled without informing us, dinner reservations at the specialty restaurants were totally screwed up, and there were several other snafus that just marred an otherwise enjoyable trip. Another main complaint is that our grade of cabin was the last to be able to reserve shore excursions, and most were booked up by our time to reserve. If this is their policy, they need to make sure there are enough excursion spots for all!! And no "remedial" bottle of champagne, promise of a credit, nor even call from HQ now that we are home!
