I have cruised Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Princess. Overall, the best bang for the buck is Carnival. The last cruise I took was on Royal's Oasis of the Seas. It was a beautiful ship....but the food was terrible, the crew was not friendly at all, and the food areas were never bussed or cleaned.....there was constantly a pile of used dishes and trays on tables. That Royal cruise cost double of Carnival, plus there were crowds everywhere on the Royal Ship. On Carnival, we never had to wait more than maybe 5-10 minutes tops to get our table during the any-time-dining. Overall, I will pick Carnival to go on.....yeah the ships may not be a big or large as Royal.....but the food and crew is so much better....plus I pay have the cost and overall have a lot more fun.
INTERNET Review: Do NOT pay for the "premium" internet service ($129).....just pay for the regular service ($72). They both are bad....the premium service is advertised as 3X faster and that you can stream movies.....that is NOT so. I couldn't even download an iTunes song the service is so slow. They best thing to do is get the regular plan and login at the desk kiosks......using your cell phone is useless to try to surf or use apps that require internet and I paid for the premium plan. What does work very well is the Carnival Hub app. You can chat with anyone on the ship thru the app and works very well anywhere on the ship....and it's only $5 for the entire cruise.
Cabin is laid out well. All was good except our shower and sink drained very slow. The room steward was excellent if we needed extra towels or anything.
The departure terminal in Galveston is ok....nothing fancy.
The ship is beginning to show its age, but the crew was always friendly, seemed happy, and the food service was very good and the tables/eating areas were always bussed immediately.
