We desired a small ship experience focused on destinations. We did not want a casino, water slide, or other amusements instead of a learning experience. Our previous Viking river cruises met our needs, and the ocean cruises appeared to have the same emphasis on a learning curriculum. We were pleased with the lectures as well as the variety of entertainment events that ranged from Broadway-style performances to classical music trios.

The dining opportunities gave us choices at every meal. The specialty venues offered excellent gourmet menus, the World Cafe let us choose to eat light, and The Restaurant offered a varied menu every evening. We enjoyed the room service option to have breakfast on our veranda as we sailed into port.

The service onboard was stellar. There was always a person with a warm smile offering to guide us, to bring a beverage, to assist with reservations in the specialty dining venues, or to bring ice to the stateroom.
