Did a back-2-back on the Jewel out of San Juan to several of the Caribbean islands. Royal Caribbean is always my first choice as they always deliver. The only negative about the cruise itinerary or the ship was that on the ship many activities take place in the Centrum. The area is entirely too small for many of the activities which presents a 'much too crowded' atmosphere making it difficult to fully participate or enjoy the venue. The main dining room wait staff were outstanding as well as the cabin attendant. It appears the ship's singers and dancers are doing fewer shows, as only two were scheduled. The other entertainers were mostly comedians and I would consider them very good. The one negative about going ashore was the constant annoying vendors once on shore relentlessly seeking your business. This seems to be the norm now throughout the Caribbean and can't be avoided.
Typical balcony cabin but starting to show signs of wear, especially in the bathroom.
Took the ferry taxi to the main part of town. Walked around the shops but did not spend much time there simply because we had been there many times before.
Walked around town to visit the various churches. All very interesting, especially learning about their history.
Had been to San Juan many times where we visited all the major points of interest. So we just walked around Old San Juan and saw the many entertainers there in the various squares performing during a festival which was going on the weekend we were there. Stopped at a small family owned restaurant and had a excellent dish of Mofongo, the island's signature dish.
