Took Sunshine to Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk March 4-12. Had read several reviews of varying experiences but have to say overall Sunshine ship and crew are good. The ship has lots of activities and good food. I have been on many cruise lines and still appreciate a Carnival cruise, especially when there is a good cruise director like Emma and most of the crew is friendly and helpful. There were some who could care less but that can occur anywhere and I'm not letting a few weigh down the great help provided by so many on the ship.

The eating areas from lido to Guy' Burgers, from main dining to speciality were all good. You may have read some reviews complain about layout, some floors not running front-to-back, etc. but come on, it's easy to get around a ship just figure out your paths. Don't like casino smoke then traverse a lodging floor like deck 7 front to back and avoid. Really, it's not that hard. The Havana Bar area with Ji Ji Asian food and the Italian restaurant area is a great place to sit and eat and abit less crowded than lido area. The piano bar was small but a great time always. The casino staff has mostly friendly personnel although there were a few with no personality at all. The pit bosses and manager were great and they offer the usual tables, slots, craps and tournaments including poker. The one downer is that blackjack is being run primarily on 6-5 blackjack payout and dealer hits soft 17. The only 3-2 was one $25 table not always open. The minimum black jack during entire week was $6 and most played $5 with $1 on Luckie Ladies to pair a twenty value. Queen of hearts paid 125 to 1 and with a dealer black jack $1,000 which I saw one lucky person hit.

The production shows were decent and entertaining, the juggler Dana Tyson from Charlotte was awesome and the magician was good. The comedy shows were all good that I got to and they changed comedians mid-week. Bingo seems to get more and more expensive but they offer a variety of games, times and card values to play.

Cabin Review

Ocean Suite

Cabin OS

Good size and storage. Great service. The bathrooms in ocean suites a bit cramped as they have squeezed in a tub that is not needed. Walked by plenty of open rooms for balcony cabins and they were similar just a little less floor space and a good value.
