We sailed this same itinerary last year on the Norwegian Star, but wanted a larger ship experience, so we chose the Getaway this year. This trip was much more enjoyable due to the roomier feel of the ship and the greater variety of on board activities and entertainment. Even though this is a larger ship, it is well organized so it does not take much time to get from one activity area to another. Even in the buffet area which is usually a traffic jam was easy to get through.
Because there are a lot of passengers, you do have to plan out your access to some of the for fee and free entertainment venues. Reservations are needed to attend the comedy shows, illusionarium, and the special stage shows and are made at the box office near the main stage. Getting a reservation is not usually a problem. You can also stand in the standby line at the venue to try and get in if you did not make a reservation.
Our inside cabin was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Avoid cabins on deck 5 at the forward end of the ship since there is a crew access door there that is opened and closed often and at all times of the day or night which can disturb your sleep.
Our inside cabin was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, our room was at the end of the hall on the forward end of the ship where there is a crew access door that was opening and closing often at all hours of the day which did disturb our sleep some. We were assigned this room since we bought a guaranteed inside room instead of one that we could select ourselves.
