Pier check-in was a nightmare! Took two hours standing in lines. Unknown to my wife and I, who are in our fifties, this cruise was marketed to college spring breakers. The overwhelming majority of the cruisers were 21 years old. Three weeks prior to sailing my wife called RC and specifically asked what age group was expected on the cruise; the answer was "middle age". Consequently the ship ran out of alcohol on Day 1 and Day 4. We paid for the beverage package upgrade and couldn't even get a late evening drink! The kids were loud, roudy and took over the pool and hot tub areas. Couldn't get a chair on the pool deck. All food service was shut down early on the last night of the cruise; couldn't even get room service at 10 pm the last night. The food overall was sub-par. The first night we chose to eat in the dining room I ordered "Surf & Turf" for an additional $40. The steak was over-salted and awful, and the lobster was dry. The next day I noticed the same lobster was served at the buffet for free. The temperature in the casino was so hot it was unbearable; we never played. The shower in our cabin had no cold water; took plumbers two days to resolve this issue. We waited 40 minutes in an airport transfer bus, breathing diesel fumes, before the bus left pierside to return us to the airport. We have cruised with Carnival ships many times; this was our first time with Royal Caribbean. Compared to Carnival, this was by far the worst cruise experience, making it our last.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

Lack of color or trim made cabin feel like a jail cell; very small.

Took our own taxi to Palancar Beach; $15 per person one way. Quiet and laid-back experience. Nice.
