Carnival Paradise. WORST CRUISE EXPERIENCE EVER. Don't ever take a carnival cruise, ESPECIALLY on the carnival paradise. I just returned from what was supposed to be a 5 day western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. For starters, the day before our cruise, we were informed that there was a problem with the engines that affected the maximum cruising speed, and we were no longer going to grand cayman. We were only given a 25$ onboard credit for this. Instead, we were to go to Costa Maya and were given more time in Cozumel. Trying to be a good sport, I stayed positive and was sure we would have just as much fun. Well, oh boy was I wrong!! This cruise was a nightmare!! Due to this broken engine, the boat was no longer able to break the waves, creating extreme rocking on the boat. My friends and I were all severely sea sick, and spent most of the first two days at sea sick. (Rocky to the point that food actually flew off the table at dinner one night) anyways, still trying to keep good spirits we booked an excursion for costa maya. The morning we arrived to costa maya, the captain came on board and announced we couldn't get into the port at costa maya due to weather! The best part was that the waves were calm and it was bright and sunny that day, not to mention the other ships sitting in the port that morning. Basically, we were told by an engineer that without the sixth engine, we didn't have enough strength to push into the port through the high tide. Carnival has refused to give us any money back, despite that we spent four of our five days miserable at sea! They even made people pay for the sea sickness medication, which is usually free!

In addition to this, we were also told by an engineer and other passengers that carnival has known about this faulty engine for months, but doesn't inform passengers until it's too late to cancel for a refund. We have proof of other trips from December and January that also couldn't make it to grand cayman due to "weather". I will add that carnivals policy is that they have to refund passengers when the issue is under their control i.e mechanical (faulty engines), but will not refund when the circumstances are out of their control i.e. Weather.

The next miserable part of this cruise was the food. The food was nasty, inedible.. so fake. It made me and my boyfriend sick! The only edible things were pizza and fries, which isn't something you want to be eating for every meal. Meat was questionable and cooked poorly, vegetable were plain, desserts were gross.. my boyfriend ordered a "prime rib" one night and it looked like a big ball of fat and soy you would get in a public school lunch.

Cabin 6E

Cabin was ok. I didn't have high expectations, but it was decently clean. Bed was uncomfortable, bathroom was kind of gross. Lighting was also pretty awful, but it could have been worse. Out housekeeping guy, Inyoman, was amazing.

Cozumel

beaches were fun, and prices were reasonable

Tampa

I would definitely try to take a cruise our of Orlando or Miami instead, where there are bigger ships
