Selected this cruise because of the ports of call. Barcelona is such a perfect city to start and finish this cruise and we took extra days on both the front and back end of this cruise to soak up the Barcelona architecture, food and atmosphere. We had a penthouse cabin (10500 Hong Kong Suite) which frankly exceeded our expectations. Millwork of birdseye maple and original artwork. An impressive size suite with a front facing balcony. This cabin came with a butler (he delivered hors d'oeuvres every afternoon gratis) and concierge. We were escorted both on and off the ship, concierge arranged for vip seating for each entertainment show, dinner reservations with a table by the window, assistance with shore excursions and made herself readily available for any and all questions. This cabin also entitled us to private dining for breakfast and lunch each day in Cagney's steakhouse venue. Cannot say enough about the level of customer service we received from the staff and crew on this cruise. It was exceptional.

We did two shore excursions offered by Norwegian. Funchal, Portugal toboggan ride was tremendous fun. Bus to Rock of Gibraltar ( 2 hours by bus each way) was worth it. Saw so much of the beautiful Spanish shoreline and the Rock of Gibraltar with it's 35,000 inhabitants (plus Barbary Monkeys), was worth the trip. Bring cash. Surprisingly, many of the shops on Gibraltar did not accept credit cards. All other port shops readily accepted plastic.

Food: We enjoyed the Garden restaurant venue (more intimate) over Windows, but no complaints about either. We didn't frequent any of the specialty restaurants. Shogun restaurant is complimentary dining, but that was not to our liking. Nighttime shows were average, (Comedian and Motown Singers were the best) although the bands in the bar venues ( i.e.Prism) were extremely good.

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SE

Exceeded our expectations. Absolutely lovely cabin. The only drawback is that you cannot open a slider to let the sea air in. There is a door out to the balcony which exits from the sitting area, so no sea air directly into the sleeping area. That is not significant when you consider the beauty of the cabin itself and the other amenities that it affords. We were extremely pleased with our accomodations

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Beautiful city with incredible architecture. I recommend the hop on, hop off bus. Quick way to see multiple landmarks. Cable car up to Mount Juic and also the cable car across the harbor waters are lovely on a clear day

Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)

They were setting up for Carnival. Fun to experience

Tenerife

We enjoyed this port very much. Because of Carnival, some of the shops were closed in preparation for the parade and festivities, but lively atmosphere and market area
